I suggest trying something like Minion or Baskerville (preferably Storm Baskerville 10 Pro), or if you want to go with a Garalde, Garamond Premiere Pro or Sabon Next. When used in less than ideal lighting conditions, this can be a little hard to read. I think Garamond is fine, however a little to spindly (at least the Garamond you used, there are many different flavours of this typeface). This file has been downloaded 399 time(s). Anything that you think would be helpful (page is 6x9).ĮDIT: I can't seem to open the file I attached. Or if you think the font size is ok, I'd welcome that input too. So what I'm wondering is if there's a font comparable to Garamond that would be heavier but a little more compact, so I could substitute it in the lyrics and bump it up one point without needing to re-space. I've probably logged 20,000 left/right arrow strokes of manual adjustment. With just under a thousand hours logged to this point, I don't want to have to re-format everything.
I'm thinking about bumping up the font by one point, but that will mean MANY hymns would have to be re-spaced because they're maxed out on the page. I really like Garamond, but I'm concerned that it may be a tad too light. Currently the entire hymnal is using Garamond, 15-pt, page resized to 80%, notes/lyrics resized to 96%. The issue I'm concerned about it lyric size and readability. I'm about 95% through the typesetting process. I'm working on typesetting a hymnal for our church that will be professionally printed and bound (and sold).
